About
"Life After Cancer
Charitable Trust"
was founded
June 2011 by Kerryn Shepherd with the help of others here in New Zealand. Kerryn who
has personally dealt with cancer found a lack of support for those that
have after effects from their cancer treatment or the side effects they
now have to live with day to day.
LACC-
stands for Life after Cancer Charitable
LACC of Understanding
LACC-
of Empathy
LACC -of Comprehension
LACC- of .......
The Trust:
Formed for Cancer Survivors, with chronic side effects, resulting
from treatment.
For those who are alone or are in need of support.
The Trust is made up
from volunteers
who
wish to support such survivors where they can.
Mission Statement:
To bring back the feeling of hope, value, self worth, inclusion
in society and purpose in life.
Proposed
Outcomes:
To improve the quality of life, for those who
suffer from one or more
chronic diseases, when the immediate threat of death
from cancer has subsided greatly. The cost of chromic side effects both
physically and mentally are a massive drain on their resources which
they used prior to or are required to use and have exhausted.
With
living conditions we may assist in
improving those circumstances maybe in rent cost, moving costs, or into
a supported living environment.
Costs
associated with seeing their GPs and
Specialists in follow-up treatments
associated with chronic outcomes.
With isolation
they cannot venture far from their home or bedroom, we could look at
funding Sky subscription, internet subscription, internet social networking or
pay for these services for a defined period of time.
To gather together those survivors whom wish to volunteer their services.
There is a massive wealth of knowledge within this group that can be
utilized to assist others and give to themselves a sense
of value and worth again in society.
To
bring together those that may not have suffered from cancer personally
but are willing to help others that have.
